Political and Economic Empowerment of  
Women in Ukraine. Psychohistory analysis and new answers to challenges

Ukraine, the new independent country of the former Soviet Union, is going through a complicated period of transition to new values, new economic system, and new social-political system. Many of the habitual ideas and conceptions of human relations, of self-esteem, of the responsibility for one-self, family, children are being destroyed or changing.
   The relationships between people are changing in their workplaces. The people’s attitudes to power, law, property, and to themselves, death, gender equality, family, and children are changing. All of these processes are reflecting the deep economic, ecological (Chernobyl disaster), social-political (Maidan, Dignity Revolution, war conflict), and psychological crises of the society ... 

  •  in the context of the ‘Council of Europe Convention  on Prevention and Combatting Violence  Against  Women and   Domestic Violence’ ratification in Ukraine it is necessary to achieve the all-European minimum standards of help for the women-victims of violence;
  • develop the culture of women- leaders and civic support to the economic and political empowerment of women in Ukraine.

“OBSTACLES FACED BY VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN WHEN THEY SEEK SUPPORT AND REHABILITATION IN UKRAINE
RESULTS OF RESEARCH
 
 The study was conducted within the framework of “Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence in Ukraine” project of Council of Europe.

Pilot regions: Lviv and Kirîvîgrad regions that were defined by Ministry of Social politics of Ukraine and Coordinator of Council of Europe Project
 
  The objective  of the research was to identify obstacles faced by women-victims of gender-based violence when they request assistance from the state institutions responsible for preventing domestic violence and other types of violence against women in Ukraine. In the process of analysis such obstacles it was necessary to study the differences between obstacles that meet urban and rural  women in Ukraine.
The obstacles that met violence victims in different state institutions, such as:
  Police
  Medical facilities
  Social services
  Courts

PSYCHOLOGICAL  HELP TO INNER DISPLACED PERSONS IN UKRAINE. WOMEN AND CHILDREN STATUS

 Psychological Centre “ROZRADA” provides such projects now:
 • Project “Complex psychological help IDP in the places of their compact living in rural district: early psychological intervention and developing of constant and mobile centresod psychological help” supported by UN Represwentation in Ukraine and Japan Government. Project is implementing in Balaklia district of Harkiv region. 9000 IDP are living there from Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
  We are participating in the implementation  by Fund “Health right” of Project “Psychological help to persons who was in captivity and survive after tortures”. ROZRADA psychologists developed the method “Psychological working with couple: “torture victim and his/her partner”. It will be provided the first training for psychologists and social workers at 15 March 2016.
